1. Introduction
The Custom Framework feature in redOrange.ai allows organizations to create, configure, and publish their own compliance frameworks tailored to internal or industry-specific needs. This guide explains how administrators can create custom frameworks, add process plans, scopes, controls, and policies, and manage framework lifecycle including editing and deletion.
2. Permissions
To manage custom frameworks, users must have the following roles or permissions:
Create / Configure: Admin or permissions with Can Create Framework and Can Configure Framework permissions.
Delete: To delete a custom framework, the user must also have Can Delete Framework permission.
3. Creating a Custom Framework
Step 1: Start Framework Creation
Navigate to Compliance.
Click Create New on the Create Framework card.
A guided sequence begins to help you configure the framework.
Step 2: Framework Details
Enter Framework Name (mandatory).
(Optional) Select a Category from the dropdown.
Provide additional optional details:
Industry
Logo
Description
Click Next to proceed.
4. Sequence Steps for Framework Creation
The framework creation wizard is divided into multiple sequence steps. Each step can be completed or skipped using the Skip this Step checkbox. You can also Save Draft at any time to pause and continue later.
4.1 Add Introduction Video
Default sequence name: Introduction Video (editable).
Add videos by entering:
Video Name
Video URL (supports Vimeo and YouTube).
Add multiple videos using Add Video button.
Skip if not required.
Save it as Draft to pause and continue later
4.2 Add Implementation Video
Default sequence name: Implementation Video (editable).
Add videos by entering:
Video Name
Video URL (supports Vimeo and YouTube).
Add multiple videos using Add Video button.
Skip if not required.
Save it as Draft to pause and continue later
4.3 Add Process Plan
Default sequence name: Process Plan (editable).
Create categories using Add Category.
Add questions to each category to define the process plan.
Skip if not required.
Save it as Draft to pause and continue later
4.4 Add Scope
Default sequence name: Scope (editable).
Create categories using Add Category.
Add scope-related questions under each category to define framework boundaries.
Skip if not required.
Save it as Draft to pause and continue later
4.5 Add Controls
Default sequence name: Controls (editable).
Add controls in two ways:
Predefined Controls:
Custom Controls:
Click Add New Control.
Enter Control Title, Question, optional Description.
Select or create Category and Subcategory.
Add the new control to the table, then select and click Add Control.
Filters are available by Category, Subcategory, and Control Name.
Control IDs can be edited if required.
Skip if not required.
Save it as Draft to pause and continue later
4.6 Add Policies
Default sequence name: Policies (editable).
Add policies in two ways:
Predefined Templates:
Custom Policies:
Click Add Policy.
Provide Policy Name, Category, Subcategory.
Add Description.
Upload a policy document (.docx only).
Define variables in the format
{<Variable Name>}
(e.g.,{<Company Name>}
).Provide questions for each variable so values can be dynamically inserted.
Filters available by Category, Subcategory, and Policy Name.
5. Publishing the Framework
Once all desired sequences are complete, click Publish.
Your custom framework is now active.
Navigate to Compliance > Frameworks and select the created framework to view all configured sequences and data.
6. Managing Frameworks
Editing a Framework
Navigate to Compliance > Frameworks.
Click the Settings (gear) icon on the framework card.
Update sequences, controls, policies, or details as needed and publish them.
Deleting a Framework
Only users with Can Delete Framework permission can delete a framework.
Navigate to the framework card and select Delete icon.
Deleted frameworks cannot be recovered; ensure backups or exports are in place.
7. Best Practices
Always provide meaningful framework names and descriptions for easy identification.
Use categories and subcategories consistently across controls and policies.
Leverage predefined templates to save time, but customize where necessary for your organization’s needs.
Save drafts frequently when creating complex frameworks.
Review all variables in policy templates before publishing to avoid missing values.
8. Troubleshooting

Cannot create framework | Confirm role has Can Create Framework and Can Configure Framework permissions. |
